Clark will be starting demolition of the existing office building at 1730 N Lynn Street. They will be conducting the high-reach structural demolition work at night and hauling/processing during the day. The demolition work will continue throughout the month of December. The demolition of 1730 N Lynn will be accomplished with the help of high-reach machinery that will pick the building apart, beginning at the top of the building. To enhance pedestrian safety, the high-reach work will be conducted between the hours of 8:00 PM and 6:00 AM. All other work will be performed during posted construction hours (Monday-Friday: 7:00AM-6:30PM Weekends/Holidays: 10:00AM-6:30PM). The afterhours work will be restricted to the high-reach picking and will not involve wrecking balls, hammering, or the loading and hauling of debris. The afterhours work will be accomplished over the course of approximately 4 weeks. However, if there is an opportunity to shorten the duration of demolition, Clark will attempt to do so.

11/20/2014

With the residential portion of the project, (near 19th street), work is progressing forward well, and construction is nearing the start of concrete work.

TRAFFIC/PEDESTRIAN CHANGES

Rakers will be set  adjacent to the existing 1730 N. Lynn office building, resulting in the road closure of N. Moore Street on Saturday, November 22, 2014 from 8:00pm to 5:00am the following morning. This closure is only for vehicular traffic; pedestrians will still be able to use the sidewalks and Metro Access will remain unaffected.

On the office side of the project (near Wilson Boulevard), the site is being cleared and piles are being drilled. Utility work has been underway and is being performed during non-rush hour times. It will continue to affect the sidewalk along Wilson Boulevard, as well as some of the traffic lanes during the day.

Demolition of the existing building at 1730 N. Lynn Street is scheduled to begin Monday, December 1, 2014 and will continue in stages throughout the month of December and into mid-January. Demolition work will take place at night and hauling/processing will take place during the day. The night work will take place from 8:00pm to 6:00am.

The interim traffic pattern at the median on Wilson Boulevard is being completed during non-rush hour times this week. Saturday, November 22, 2014 striping will take place and two full lanes will continue to be open. Jersey barriers will be placed in their final position during the week of Thanksgiving.

Blasts will continue for the project each day at 11:00am, closing the streets and sidewalks of N. Moore and N. Lynn for 5 minutes from 10:55-11:00. Please plan accordingly if you know you need to be somewhere by 11:00!

As a safety reminder, we ask that everyone use the sidewalks and cross walks on N. Moore and N. Lynn.

10/21/2014

Clark Construction Group is in the process of erecting a perimeter safety fence which will encompass the site along N. Lynn Street, Wilson Boulevard, and N. Moore Street. The sidewalk along Wilson Boulevard will remain open to pedestrians during demolition while the N. Moore and N. Lynn sidewalks will be closed. The fencing will extend into N. Lynn Street to include the northernmost parking and travel lane and into N. Moore Street to include the southernmost travel and parking lane.

The demolition work is scheduled to begin on or around November 3rd and will be accomplished with the help of high-reach machinery that will pick the building apart, beginning at the top of the building.

10/16/2014

Night work within North Lynn Street is scheduled through 10/17. The majority of utilities have been completed and the remaining work is to restore the roadway. Restoration activities are expected to be less disruptive than the recent construction. After Friday 10/17, work will resume to the normal working hours.
