October is Urban Agriculture Month in Virginia. If this topic interests you, you'll want to attend a special event at Barley Mac featuring guest speaker Wythe Marschall, a national expert in vertical and indoor farming.
Brought to you by the Arlington Friends of Urban Agriculture, Marschall will lead a discussion on how to transplant best practices from New York and European cities to grow a sustainable, just and secure food system in Arlington. He will also share ideas on how different public and private institutions can intervene to build a resilient future that includes producing food in an urban setting.
County Board Member Erik Gutshall will be on hand to present the annual Arlington proclamation on urban agriculture while guests enjoy a locally-sourced, bespoke food and drink menu (for purchase) curated by Barley Mac's Executive Chefs Mike Cordero and Jeremy Magnanelli.
This event is free and open to the public. Donations will be accepted.
