Theodore Roosevelt Island
Experience the natural setting of Theodore Roosevelt Island in full moonlight by joining the Friends of Theodore Roosevelt Island's nature walk. The unique sights and sounds of the island at night will leave a lasting impression. The 1.5 mile hike will be led by a National Park Service volunteer who will carry a flashlight. All proceeds benefit the Friends of Theodore Roosevelt Island, a non-profit devoted to preserving and promoting Theodore Roosevelt Island.
Participants meet at the Virginia side of the footbridge leading to the island. Wear comfortable walking shoes and dress appropriately for the weather forecast. To preserve the undisturbed natural setting, no pets or children under 16 are allowed. Flashlights will be carried by the guide and volunteers only. Friends of Theodore Roosevelt Island members should enter the promotional code sent by email to receive their member discount. Information on membership is available at www.theodorerooseveltisland.org. Hikes will be held in all types of weather including light rain. Registered walkers will be contacted by email the afternoon of the event if the walk is canceled due to inclement weather or unsafe conditions and offered a refund or an opportunity to reschedule. A full refund will be provided for cancellations received no later than seven days prior to the date for the event.
