Walk & Learn: Engineering Safer Streets
Date and Time
- Saturday, Apr 5, 2025 10am - 11:30am
Location
Starts at Courthouse Metro; ends at Central Place Plaza
If you're interested in transportation, planning, and design, join Arlington County's Vision Zero Program Manager Christine Baker and her team on a guided walk from Courthouse to Rosslyn. They'll explain a variety of improvements the County has made to this busy corridor to increase safety for all people. This is a great chance to learn and ask questions of the people who are making our streets safer!
Baker has worked in Arlington County's Transportation Engineering and Operations Bureau since 2017 and helped to launch the County’s Vision Zero program.
Vision Zero is an international movement that employs a multidisciplinary approach to achieving a goal of zero transportation-related deaths. It aims to achieve this goal through system-wide improvements instead of reactive responses to traffic deaths. Arlington County joined the Vision Zero Network in summer 2019 and hopes to achieve its goals by 2030.
All event attendees will receive a free Vision Zero T-shirt featuring the County’s safety mascot, the Cautionary Snail.
This free event is hosted in partnership with WalkArlington, Arlington County's walking education and encouragement program.
This is a one-way, approximately one-mile walk. The walk starts at the Court House Metro and ends near Central Place Plaza in Rosslyn.
