Rosslyn BID Celebrates Community Excellence at its Annual City Social
2025 Rosslyn BID Award recipients for Community Impact and Most Valuable Partner named
ROSSLYN, VA (April 14, 2025) — The Rosslyn Business Improvement District (BID) proudly presented its community awards at City Social yesterday, recognizing outstanding contributions and excellence that positively impact Rosslyn. This year, the Arlington County Police Department (ACPD) Community Engagement Division received the Community Impact Award and Rosslyn BID board member James Derr received the Most Valuable Partner Award.
Community Impact Award
The Community Impact Award was presented to the ACPD Community Engagement Division in recognition of its steadfast commitment to cultivating a safe and welcoming environment in Rosslyn. Under the leadership of Deputy Chief Wayne Vincent, the division has played a pivotal role in the Rosslyn Safety and Security Group, participating in meetings to report on public safety trends and facilitate discussions regarding community safety concerns. ACPD Chief Andy Penn prioritizes community engagement across Arlington, and the division's innovative programs have significantly strengthened the relationships between law enforcement and community members. This award honors their exemplary efforts to foster trust with stakeholders, assist the Rosslyn BID’s public safety initiatives, and collaborate on meaningful ways to engage the community, from participating at events in the Rosslyn neighborhood to sharing safety tips and promoting outreach through social media.
Most Valuable Partner Award
As an incredibly engaged board member who both lives and works in Rosslyn, James has been a champion for the neighborhood and a driving force in supporting the Rosslyn BID’s initiatives and events. He is actively engaged in Rosslyn BID initiatives and advocates for community involvement in the neighborhood. Derr, also a member of the North Rosslyn Civic Association board, offers a unique perspective and helps inform the Rosslyn BID’s efforts to enhance quality of life and grow the neighborhood into a premier destination. He attends all major Rosslyn BID events, actively engages with our social media platforms, and advocates for community involvement in the neighborhood.
