Rosslyn Central Place Plaza Becomes Floral Oasis This Mother’s Day Weekend
Market to feature unique floral creations, locally-sourced flowers, arts and crafts fair, live music, light refreshments and more
ARLINGTON, Va. (April 15, 2019) – The Rosslyn Business Improvement District (BID) announced today that the first-ever Rosslyn Blooms! Flower Festival, a premier spring flower market, will occur on May 11, 2019, in Arlington, Virginia. Holley Simmons, the creative mind behind the stunning floral arrangements She Loves Me will bring her beautiful and unique flower creations to Central Place Plaza in Rosslyn for a day filled with fun and activities for all ages.
“We’re basically flower bombing the square,” Simmons, owner of both She Loves Me and The Lemon Collective, said. “It is a great way to spend Mother’s Day weekend, whether you’re a parent looking for a family-friendly activity (and last-minute gifts for mom) or a bride-to-be looking for ‘Big Day’ ideas and inspiration.”
The market will feature flowers from local growers in Virginia and Maryland, live music, a pop-up café on the plaza and a special table of live plants dubbed “impossible to kill.” Prices range from a few dollars for individual stems to $30-$80 for floral arrangements, with other gifts available for purchase. Running throughout the day will also be a BYOB (Build Your Own Bouquet) Blossom Bar where participants will be guided through the art of selecting flowers and arranging their own bouquet.
“As a placemaking and community organization, we partner with local businesses and brands in our region to bring unexpected and desired amenities to the Rosslyn neighborhood,” Mary-Claire Burick, president of the Rosslyn BID, said. “Holley Simmons and the team at She Loves Me held an incredible plant workshop last summer at our Rosslyn pop-up, The Alcove, and I am excited to bring her back for this event which is sure to be a hit.”
