1 Netherlands Carillon 1400 N Meade St Arlington, VA 22209 Stop by a carillon of bells overlooking the Potomac River, which were gifted by the people of the Netherlands to the U.S. after World War 2. The structure chimes every 15 minutes from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and plays patriotic music twice a day. 4 Gateway Park Sign 1300 Langston Blvd, Base of Key Bridge Arlington, VA Nestled on the outskirts of Gateway Park, the vibrant sign is often decorated throughout the year, and a great spot to mark your trip to the neighborhood with a photo! It’s currently in front of the Gateway Park Dog Park in the west end of the park. |
5 Anna and David 1525 Wilson Blvd Arlington, VA The first large-scale project by Canadian painter Miriam Schapiro, this brightly painted sculpture showcases two dancing figures standing 35 feet high. It conveys movement through animated poses between the duo, beautifying the neighborhood with a pop of color! |
6 Cupid’s Garden Wilson Blvd/Nash St/Oak St Arlington, VA Sitting on a triangular traffic island, this 4-ton sculpture consists of 23 polished stainless steel arrows, with a bed of greenery and flowers underneath. Dedicated on Valentine’s Day in 1994, the exquisite structure is a great spot to stop with your friend, loved one, or partner to grab a quick picture. |
7 Dark Star Park 1655 N Fort Myer Dr Arlington, VA The park, which was Arlington’s first major commissioned art project, features large spheres designed to resemble fallen, extinguished stars. One section of the park contains spheres and poles with shadow-images inset into the ground, which align perfectly at 9:32 a.m. each year on August 1, known as Dark Star Park Day. |
